Light where you actually need it

Good lighting is mostly layout. Pot lights placed along the cabinet run instead of the middle of the room, pendants hung at the right height over an island, a chandelier centred on a vaulted ceiling. Placement and switching are worked out before anything gets cut.

Heavier and higher fixtures need proper support, and two storey drops need the chain length set properly. Whether it is a single bathroom light or a whole house of pot lights, the work is done safely and left tidy.

Common questions about light fixture installation

Can you install a chandelier on a vaulted ceiling?

Yes. Chandeliers and pendants on vaulted ceilings and two storey drops are regular work, including setting the chain length properly and making sure the box and support are rated for the weight. A heavy fixture needs proper support, not just whatever box happened to be in the ceiling already.

Can pot lights be added to an existing room?

Usually, yes. Pot lights can be added to finished ceilings in most rooms, with the layout planned around how the room is used and the switching worked out before anything is cut. Daniel looks at the ceiling, the access above it and the existing wiring before he quotes.

Do you install ceiling fans?

Yes. Ceiling fans, including fans on vaulted ceilings, are installed with support rated for the weight and movement of a fan, and wired so the fan and any light can be controlled the way you want. Replacing an existing light with a fan often means installing a fan-rated box first.
