A Level 2 charger is one of the largest loads a house carries, and it runs for hours at a time. That is why the job starts with your panel, not the charger. Daniel checks what the existing service already carries before anything is quoted, and if it cannot take the added load you are told upfront.

Then the circuit is run and sized properly and the charger or outlet is installed and tested. Whether you want a hardwired wall charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the garage, the work is done to code and left tidy.

Can my panel handle an EV charger?

That depends on what is already on it. The panel gets assessed before anything is quoted, and if the existing service cannot carry the added load you are told before the work starts rather than partway through. Sometimes the right answer is a panel upgrade first, and you will know that upfront.

Should I get a hardwired charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?

Both work for home charging. A hardwired wall charger is fixed in place, while a NEMA 14-50 outlet lets you plug in a portable charger. The right choice depends on your vehicle, your charger and where you park. Daniel can talk you through the options for your setup before he quotes.

Do I need a permit to install an EV charger in Alberta?

Installing a new circuit for an EV charger is electrical work that generally needs a permit and an inspection in Alberta. Where one is needed, Daniel takes care of it and does the work to the Canadian Electrical Code and Alberta requirements, so the installation is signed off properly.
